Privacy Policy

This policy explains which data the WiFi Heatmap: Coverage Map app for iPhone ("the app") and the website wificoveragemap.com ("the website") process, and why.

In short

  • There is no account and no login. You never give us your name, email address or a password.
  • Your floor plans and measurements stay on your iPhone. They are not uploaded to our servers.
  • We receive anonymous usage statistics through TelemetryDeck, to understand how the app is used and to fix problems. They don't identify you.
  • Payments are handled by Apple. The app uses RevenueCat to check whether you have an active purchase. We never see your payment details.
  • The website uses no cookies and no tracking.

Who is responsible

The app and the website are operated by TopCycle, who is responsible for the processing described in this policy. For any privacy question, write to info@topcycle.it.

Data that stays on your iPhone

The floor plans you create, the measurements taken while you walk through your home and the resulting maps are stored on your device and are not sent to us.

The app may ask for system permissions needed by its features. You can review or revoke them at any time in the iPhone Settings app.

Deleting the app removes this data from your device. Like other app data, it may be included in your iPhone backups (for example iCloud Backup), which Apple manages under its own privacy policy.

Anonymous usage statistics (TelemetryDeck)

The app sends anonymous usage signals to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service operated by TelemetryDeck GmbH, Germany. These signals describe how the app is used, together with technical information such as the app version, the iOS version and the device type. They don't contain your name, email address, floor plans or measurements, and we can't use them to identify you.

We process this data on the basis of our legitimate interest in improving the app and fixing errors (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). More information: TelemetryDeck privacy policy.

Purchases (Apple and RevenueCat)

Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through your Apple Account. We don't receive your payment details or your Apple Account email address.

To check whether you have an active purchase and to let you restore it, the app uses RevenueCat, a service of RevenueCat, Inc., United States. RevenueCat receives a random identifier created by the app, information about your purchases (product, date, status) and technical data such as your IP address, country, app version and device type. This processing is necessary to provide the purchase you made (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

RevenueCat may process data outside the European Union; such transfers are covered by the safeguards described in its policy. More information: RevenueCat privacy policy.

The website

The website is hosted by Vercel Inc. To deliver the pages, Vercel processes technical data such as your IP address and browser information in server logs, based on our legitimate interest in operating a secure and working website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

The website sets no cookies, uses no analytics and loads no third-party trackers. More information: Vercel privacy notice.

How long data is kept

  • Floor plans and measurements: on your iPhone, until you delete them or the app.
  • Anonymous usage statistics: for as long as they are useful to improve the app.
  • Purchase data: by RevenueCat, for as long as needed to provide your purchases and to meet legal obligations.
  • Website server logs: for the limited period set by Vercel.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, and in particular under the GDPR, you have the right to access, correct and delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing and to data portability. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

Because the app has no accounts and the usage statistics are anonymous, in most cases we can't link any data to you. If you contact us, we'll help as far as we can. To manage subscriptions or request a refund, use your Apple Account settings.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or the website change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
